The official PlayStation Twitter account in Japan announced on Thursday that Siren, "the quintessential Japanese horror video game," is inspiring a "shocking" manga in Home-sha's Shinmimibukuro Atmos magazine. The manga is titled SIREN -Akai Umi no Kobigoe (Siren: The Call of the Red Sea).
A preview is running in the Spring issue of Shinmimibukuro Atmos that debuted on Thursday, and artist Hiroshi Kamio will launch the series in the magazine's Summer issue in July. The game franchise's director Keiichirō Toyama, scenario writer Naoko Satō, and other staff members are supervising all aspects of the manga, which will tell previously untold chapter in the storyline.
Sony Computer Entertainment's original SIREN horror game was released for PlayStation 2 in 2003 followed by a North American release in 2004. Forbidden Siren 2 was released in Japan, Australia, and Europe in 2006, and the third installment, Siren: Blood Curse, was released for PlayStation 3 in Japan, Europe, North America, and Australia in 2008.
